About

About Silicon Savannah

Silicon Savannah is a research-led media project tracking the technology, infrastructure, capital, and policy shaping Sub-Saharan Africa's digital economy.

The project begins with Kenya because Kenya helped define the Silicon Savannah story through mobile money, Nairobi's startup ecosystem, civic technology, and digital services. But the wider story is regional. Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, and other markets are all part of the region's digital future.

Silicon Savannah is built for founders, operators, investors, students, policymakers, researchers, and diaspora communities who want a clearer view of what is happening across the ecosystem.

Editorial Approach

We avoid hype. We track signals.

That means looking at both momentum and constraints: funding and regulation, AI and labor, data centers and power, mobile money and inclusion, startups and public infrastructure.
